As a result of a strong forward workload, G M Piling are looking to grow the piling team with two individuals willing to undertake sponsored civil engineering/quantity surveying degrees, and to expand their knowledge into a specialist sector of a growing geotechnical industry.
Trainee Design Estimator
General Responsibilities
- Production of design calculations for both load bearing and embedded retaining wall piles.
- Preparation of tender submissions.
- Assisting external engineers with early design advice.
- Attending contract/progress meetings with potential clients.
- Other office duties
Profile
- You will be a self-starter, with the ability to work on your own initiative.
- Willingness to develop technical abilities in piling disciplines with an analytical approach to problem solving.
- A good communicator, capable of effective interaction with internal and external parties through both written and oral.
- Competent in the use of digital technology.
- Motivated to progress.
Key Skills & Experience:
The ideal applicant will have a basic understanding of engineering principles, a conscientious approach to tasks and a willingness to learn.
Qualifications
- Ideally, you will have a HND qualification, closely related to civil engineering; however, this is not compulsory.
- You will have good English and mathematic skills.
- You will have relevant work experience gained through summer placements or employment.
- You will be eligible to live and work in the UK and be prepared to travel locally and across the UK from time to time.
- Full valid driving license.
